HISTORY

The Central Bradford County United Way was founded on November 7th 1977 by a group of local dedicated volunteers in the Towanda area. The United Fund of Sayre, Athens, and South Waverly was formed in 1977-1978 and was later renamed the Valley United Way until the 2005 merger with the Central Bradford County United Way to form the present day United Way of Bradford County (name officially change in 2012) thus allowing efforts to be expanded to the entire county, including Troy and Canton. Each Spring, United Way of Bradford County invites 501c3 organizations to apply for funds that meet community needs; each Fall, United Way conducts a county-wide fundraising campaign to help provide funds to approved programs designed to meet those needs.
